1 Jn. 1:5-10 “Righteousness Through Christ”
This is day 13 of 40 Days to Easter. From 1 Jn. 1:5-10, we have established that God is good (light) and that we are sinful. The good news is that we can be made righteousness, not by our good works or by going to church, but by faith in Jesus Christ. Verse 7 says that the blood of Jesus Christ God’s Son cleanses us from all sin. Verse 9 indicates that if we confess our sins, God forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. The key is faith in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose again from the dead.
Trusting Him as Savior brings everlasting life (Jn. 3:16) and then daily confession and repentance brings consistent fellowship with God. The following verses talk about our righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ. Have a great day!
1 Jn. 2:1-2 “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
2 Cor. 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Phil. 1:11 “being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”
Phil. 3:9 “and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.”
