On Day 16 of 50 Days or Purpose, I am a little tired. I just preached a sermon and participated in a Guest Luncheon. I think I am about ready for a Sunday afternoon nap. But even more important than a nap, I need to be still and connect with God.

The Psalmist emphasizes that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” and encourages us to depend on Him in the midst of very difficult times (Psalm 46:1-3). Some of us are facing challenges that are next to impossible. God wants to help us as we depend on Him. But we need to be still, to meditate on Him and His word. God wants what is good for us as we trust Him (Jeremiah 29:11).

As we think about leading people to Jesus, we need to realize that bearing much fruit is impossible without abiding in Christ, spending time with Him (John 15:5). Abiding in Christ is impossible without taking time to be still.
