Thoughts

Before a person turns to a Savior, he must know that he needs to be saved. Adam and Eve sinned, resulting in each of us having a sin nature, with a tendency to do wrong. The first sin resulted in the first parents being expelled from the Garden of Eden and unable to enjoy the presence of God. Sin continues to separate us from God. All of us have sinned and the wages of sin is death, eternal separation from God, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 3:23; 6:23).
-
Some do not consider sin to be a big deal. Apparently God does. Consider Isaiah 53:5-6. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” God considered sin to be so serious that Jesus had to die a horrible death on the cross to take care of it.
-
One of the purposes of the Old Testament law is to help men to realize their inability to keep the law and the consequences of their sin. Until we understand this, we will not turn from our sin and depend on Jesus to save us.
