Questions
-
What came first, the chicken or the egg? (If we really believe the story of creation, the chicken came first. I do not think one can have an egg without a chicken laying it.)
-
What comes before sharing the good news about Jesus Christ?
Scripture
-
Isaiah 6:1-10
-
Isaiah 6:9 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.””
Thoughts
-
Isaiah was called by God to proclaim His word. But before Isaiah was called, he had an encounter with God in all His holiness and glory. He also experienced God’s forgiveness. Then he accepted the call of God after he heard the voice of the Lord say, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Isaiah’s response was, “Here am I! Send me.”
-
Our experience as Christians is somewhat similar. We encounter God and experience His forgiveness when we are saved. Then we are called to share the good news, to lead people to Jesus. As the rest of Isaiah 6 implies, sometimes the response we get as we share is negative. But God calls us to share faithfully His word, no matter how people respond.
-
The questions we need to ask ourselves are, “Am I available to share God’s word like Isaiah was? Am I willing to follow Jesus and fish for men?” As we consider what God has done for us through Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sins, we should not be hesitant to let others know.
