Thoughts

• According to Genesis 1, God spoke and the world came into being. According to Hebrews 1:1, God spoke and His word came into being. He spoke primarily through the prophets in the Old Testament and primarily through the apostles in the New Testament. The Creator condescended to communicate with His creation. Would it be like a human conversing with an ant? He chose to speak to us through people. Ultimately He chose to speak to us clearly through His Son, the Word (Hebrews 1:2-3).
• If God made the effort to communicate with us, we should give freely of our time and energy to listen. In fact, not listening is evidence of great disrespect. Let me say that again — not listening to God as He speaks through His word is a sign of significant disrespect.
• I believe God spoke the world into being. I believe God spoke to each of us through the Bible. Therefore I am going to try to do my best to learn God’s word and to live it, to trust and obey.
