4/10/25 Matthew 11:28-30 “Finding Rest in Jesus”
As we come to Jesus, He will give us rest. He said in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gently and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” When we get tired, our tendency is to try to work things out on our own. Instead, the answer is to turn to Jesus and depend on Him for what we need. Without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Why would we think that we can remove our burdens on our own?
But it takes focus, on Jesus. Looking to Him, depending on Him. Finding rest also takes submission, learning His word and pursuing His will. Often we get worn out fighting against what God wants for us when we can experience rest and peace when we submit to His will. We need to learn to be still. In Isaiah 30:15 the Lord God said, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” That sounds counter productive in one way, but does it not make sense to depend on the One who made heaven and earth rather than place our trust in ourselves or others? Take a deep breath, and call on the Almighty for rest and help!
