4/9/25 Matthew 8:23-27 “Finding Rest”
Jesus and His disciples walked wherever they went. Israel is not a big country, but with the rugged terrain and high temperatures, walking from place to place had to be challenging. So did dealing with multitudes on a regular basis. At times the disciples had to be worn out, and even Jesus was so tired on one occasion that He fell asleep in the boat at His disciples rowed. During that particular trip on the Sea of Galilee, a storm came up and scared the disciples to death, but Jesus woke up and rebuked the winds and the sea, resulting in a great calm. The disciples were amazed.
Life and ministry can result in us being worn out as well, physically or emotionally or spiritually, or sometimes all three. But we need to keep on keeping on. When the drudgery of serving or the storms of life come our way, we should remember Who is with us. He promises to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). We can cast our cares on Him because He cares so much for us (1 Peter 5:7). As we come to Jesus, He will give us rest (Matthew 11:28-30).
