4/20/25 Luke 24:1-12 “He Is Risen!”
The wait was over. When the women brought spices to Jesus’ tomb, the stone was rolled away from the tomb and the body was gone. But two angels asked a pertinent question in Luke 24:5. “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” The angels went on to remind the women in verse 7 that while He was still in Galilee Jesus had said, “The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” Then they remembered the words Jesus had spoken and went to tell the rest of the disciples, who did not believe them.
But in spite of the disbelief of the disciples, Jesus was alive. He would appear to numerous individuals before He ascended into heaven forty days later. Before He ascended, Jesus gave his disciples the Great Commission, the charge to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the disciples proceeded to spread the word and to make disciples. The responsibility is still ours today. Jesus is alive, and He is the only way to be saved (John 14:6). According to Peter in Acts 4:12, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
