How does God reveal Himself to us?
-
How do we reveal God to others?
Thoughts
-
God has revealed Himself to us in various ways. Three that are discussed in Romans 1-3 are the witness of creation, the witness of conscience, and the witness of God’s word. Romans 1:20 indicates that we are without excuse because everyone can perceive some of the attributes of God through creation. Romans 2:15 indicates that the Law is written in our hearts through our consciences. Finally we have the oracles or actual words of God, reflected in Romans 3:1-2. In Romans 10:17 Paul says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
-
Psalm 19 also talks about the witnesses of creation and God’s word. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork” (19:1). The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul” (19:7a).
-
A fourth way that God is revealed is through His Son, Jesus Christ, who according to Hebrews 1:3 is the “brightness of His glory and the express image of His person.” If we respond rightly to the revealing of Jesus Christ who died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, through turning from our sins and trusting Christ as Savior, then we have everlasting life.
