4/1/25 Acts 1:8 “The Gospel Strategy”
According to Mark 16:15, we are commanded to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” More detail is given in Acts 1:8. Jesus says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Number one, the apostles were commanded to be witnesses, to share the good news of the gospel that we are sinners and deserve to perish, but God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross and to rise again so that we can have everlasting life, if we believe.
Number two, the Holy Spirit enables us to witness effectively. We cannot do it well on our own, but as we depend on Him, He uses us to accomplish His purpose. This is where faith comes in.
Number three, we should be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth. We should pursue evangelism in our home town, our state, our country, and throughout the world. For Southern Baptists, we are helped to carry out this strategy through the local association, the state convention, the North American Mission Board, and the International Mission Board. And all of us need to pray, to give, and to go.
