4/11/25 Isaiah 40:28-31 “Waiting on the Lord”

God giving us rest is not a new concept. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus taught His disciples to come to Him for rest. In Isaiah 40:31 God’s word says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” The context of this significant verse shows that God does not grow weary and He is able to help those who do.

The key to being strong in demanding times is relationship with God. Waiting on the Lord. Focusing on Him. The result is strength, and an ability to accomplish what needs to be done. Whether soaring or running or walking, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength (Philippians 4:13). This is a supernatural strength that comes as we wait patiently on the Lord. Most of us would agree that this is the kind of strength, and rest, we need. And it comes from focusing on God, coming to Jesus.
