3/17/25 John 1:35-42 “Come and See”
When John the Baptist told two of his disciples about Jesus being “the Lamb of God,” they followed Jesus. When Jesus recognized they were following Him he said to them, “What do you seek?” Probably they had no idea what to say, so they asked where He was staying. His response was “Come and see.” They ended up spending the day with Jesus, getting to know Him.
The invitation still stands for each one of us. Jesus invites us to come and see, to spend time with Him, to get to know Him. We cannot see Him physically at this point in time, although one of these days we will see Him and become like Him when He returns (1 John 3:2). For now we spend time with Jesus as we read and study God’s Word, as we pray, and as we spend time with other believers. He invites us to get to know Him better, but doing so takes time. Andrew and his friend spent the rest of the day with Jesus. I guess the question we need to ask ourselves is this, “How high of a priority is it for us to come and see, to spend time with the Lord Jesus Christ?
