3/18/25 John 1:40-46 “Family and Friends”

In John 1:35, John the Baptist introduced two of his disciples to Jesus, the Lamb of God. After spending the day with Jesus, Andrew made it a priority to find Simon Peter, his brother, and bring him to Jesus (40-42). When Philip met Jesus, he found Nathanael and told him about Jesus, the one “of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote.” Nathanael started asking some hard questions, but Philip simply said, “Come and see” (44-46).

There is a pattern here. John the Baptist preached about Jesus. Andrew told family about Jesus, claiming to have found the Messiah. Philip told his friend and encouraged him to come to Jesus. Later on they would talk with strangers and maybe even preach to big crowds, but they started out sharing with family and friends.

I would encourage you to think of a family member or friend, or several, that might need to trust Jesus Christ as Savior. Put him or her on a prayer list, a card or a post it or a half sheet of paper in your Bible, and pray for them every day. God might give you an opportunity to share with them, to invite them to come to Jesus. Nothing is more important!
