Questions
Why do I have trouble growing in my love for one another.
What can be done to help me grow?
Scripture
Philippians 1:1-9
Thoughts
We as disciples should lead people to Jesus, learn God’s word, and love God’s people. We are to love one another as Christ loved us, giving His life to die on the cross. No matter how well we love, we have room for improvement, unless we love as well as Jesus did.
That is why Paul, in Philippians 1:9, prays that the love of the Philippians would “abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment.” They already loved pretty well, humanly speaking. Paul has almost nothing negative to say about the Philippians. But he knew their love could grow, because none of us love perfectly.
Since the purpose of the law is love, the more time we spend in the word the more we know about how to love. Knowing how to show love to certain people takes discernment. Prayer for one another helps us as we seek to grow in love.
Action Items
Choose someone and pray that they will grow in their love for God and one another.
