What are two very important characteristics of a church?

How can we make those characteristics happen?

-
2 Thessalonians 1:1-12
Thoughts
-
Paul wrote the following words to a church in 2 Thessalonians 1:3. “We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other.” What a compliment! What a goal for any church, including ours.
-
Growing faith should be a priority. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). As we learn God’s word, we grow in our faith (Romans 10:17). When we grow in our faith, the result will be good works (James 2:20). If we trust God genuinely, the more we get to know Him, we will obey Him more and more because we recognize that He knows what He is talking about.
-
Abounding love should also be a priority. Jesus certainly considered love to be important (Matthew 22:34-40). He commanded His disciples to love one another, as He loved them (John 13:34-35). Genuine love is a supernatural work of God in us and through us.
-
Hopefully our church will be known more and more for our growing faith and abounding love, to the glory of God.
Action Items
-
Confess your lack of faith and lack of love.
