Thoughts
-
It is as we abide in Christ that we will bear much fruit and glorify God as His disciples (John 15:5). But how many of us genuinely abide in Christ?
-
Abiding in Christ takes time. The only way a person can develop a deeper relationship with someone is by spending time with him. And yet time is one of our scarcest commodities. Many of us could be described as busy or distracted. We must make time to spend with Jesus, studying the word and praying.
-
Abiding in Christ takes humility. Branches depend on the vine for vitality. When we are disconnected from the vine, certainly we will not produce fruit. Without depending on Jesus, we can do nothing, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).
-
The Christian life is supernatural rather than natural. Without an abiding relationship with Jesus, things just do not work. But when we abide in Christ, there is no telling what God is going to do in and through us. As we abide, we will produce fruit and glorify God. So be it!
