Day 35: 3/21/26 – 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Keep On Keeping On”

Back to 50 Days of Purpose Main Page

Questions

  • Do you get tired as you try to live for God and serve Him?
  • What should we do when we get tired?

Scripture

  • 1 Corinthians 15:58
  • Isaiah 40:28-31

Thoughts

  • As I write this, we are on day 34 of 50 Days of Purpose (you are possibly reading it on day 35}. We are considering the purpose of the church, to make disciples who lead people to Jesus, learn God’s word, love God’s people, and live for God’s glory. Today I am weary and ready to take a break. I do believe breaks are biblical and good if pursued properly, but sometimes it is important to keep on keeping on, to finish the task.
  • This is what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:58. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” I do not believe Paul is saying we should never take a day off or go on vacation. I do believe the he expects us to be faithful in pursuing God’s will and accomplishing His work. In John 4:34 Jesus said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” And we should be like Jesus.
  • The idea is that we focus on God’s priorities. We should be focusing on God’s priorities, and act on them consistently. From my perspective, taking a break should serve the purpose of refreshing us so that we can get back to God’s will and God’s work more effectively. We have different callings as Christians, but all of us should be seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Let’s do it!

Action Items

  • Take a ten minutes break, breathe slowly, and relax.
  • Depend on God to renew your strength so that you can do what He wants you to do.
