4/17/25 Hebrews 12:1-2 “Running with Endurance”
Not only do we need to lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, we also need to run with endurance the race set before us. The race set before us has to do with God’s plan for our lives. He wants us to walk according to His will because His way is best. According to Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Again, His way is best. And we need to surrender to His will.
It takes faith to surrender to His will, and to keep on running the race. That is why we need to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Without Jesus, we can do nothing (John 15:5). We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). We cannot run the race well unless we lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and unless we look unto Jesus, depending on Him.
