4/19/25 Isaiah 40:28-31 “Waiting”
On that Saturday, there was nothing to do but wait. Jesus had died on the cross and been buried. They had prepared some spices for Jesus’ body but were unable to apply them because it was the Sabbath. So all they could do was wait. The next day they got the surprise of their life, but on Saturday there was nothing they could do.
At times we find ourselves in a similar situation. Because of circumstances, there is nothing we can do but wait. It might be waiting for the surgery of a loved one to finish, or waiting to hear back from a job interview. Waiting can be hard.
But there is a promise from God’s word about waiting, waiting on the Lord, in Isaiah 40:31. “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” As we wait, for whatever, we need to focus on the Lord, to wait on Him.
